Pivot IP was founded by Emily Teesdale, a Chartered UK Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney, with over 20 years of expertise in the Intellectual Property industry. 

Her experience spans both private practice and in-house, including partnership at a well-respected and long-standing patent and trade mark firm as well as leading the IP team of a global aerospace company. She has partnered with clients, colleagues, and collaborators in large and small businesses, from start-ups to well-established multi-national companies, across diverse engineering and technology sectors.

This breadth of experience enables her to identify what truly matters in relation to IP, depending on your business, the competitive landscape you are in, and your strategic objectives.

She founded Pivot IP to provide this guidance, support and strategic edge for engineering companies, especially SMEs.

Many innovative companies recognize that “getting the IP right” is crucial for their success and to drive their business forward. 

Importantly, this goes much broader than simply applying for patent and trade mark protection. Instead, a comprehensive IP strategy should include both effective IP risk management and proactively using the IP system to look for and leverage opportunities.

However, especially if you’re a smaller enterprise, it can be tricky to access the right support to identify what your IP approach should be and then be able to implement it. This is what a "Head of IP" role is for but a full-time position is often simply not justifiable.
